Superfolder Guillermo Presents: An Interview with SFCammy

Howdy! It’s SFCammy. Superfolder Guillermo caught me, cup of Joe in hand, on my morning subway trip to work as a secret agent in Technocalypse, and he took the time to ask me a few questions.

Q: Firstly, what are you up to these days?

A: Thanks for asking! I’ve been doing lots of different things, like working on music, playing basketball and hockey, and even doing some non-EU writing. In terms of the EU, I’ve been working on an MOU story with Peyton (shh) and enjoying the awesome new stories from you guys.

Q: What are you studying at college?

A: I’m a Marine Science major with a double minor in Film Studies and Environmental Studies. Essentially, I am a nerd with a side of nerdiness.

Q: Is it easy to find time for the SFC, being at college?

A: Hey, it’s tough. College is a lot of work, but we make time for what’s important to us. I love this community and that’s why I’m still here.

Q: Do you know the ways of the force? If not, would you like to know?

A: Dang, that’s a very deep question. Well… Obi-Wan says that the force is an energy that binds us all together, right? I think we all know it to a certain extent. I don’t think there’s a limit, either. Maybe some people learn the ways of the Force more than others. That said, I’d definitely like to know more.

Q: What’s your favorite food?

A: Ravioli. Look, I’m vegan, but trust me, my mom makes a mean vegan ravioli.

Q: What’s your opinion on Pineapple Pizza?

A: It’s hard to give an opinion because I don’t know it too well. That’s mostly because whenever I see a slice, I run the other direction as fast as I can.

Q: Have you played Jedi Fallen order?

A: No, but it looks pretty awesome!

Q: Do you prefer Fallen Order or SW Battlefront II?

A: If I’m with some friends, SW Battlefront II. If I’m just chilling alone and munching on some ravioli (or pineapple pizza), Fallen Order.

Q: What’s your favorite series or saga, or film? Why?

A: Harry Potter is an amazing series. That’s why I’ve been excited to see your work with Wizarding Folds, man!

Q: Do you have any favorite origami universes?

A: They’re all pretty cool in their own ways. The OYEU has a lot of nostalgia for me, and the MOU is the one that I contributed to the most. That said, I’ve really enjoyed reading all of the new stories because it’s been a fresh, different experience.

Q: What do you think of the Superfolder Central? It’s people?

A: Superfolder Central is amazing because everyone’s getting the chance to write about whatever makes them happy. As for the people… you all are stooky! You guys keep me excited to write.

Q: What are the stookiest projects coming to the EU in the near future?

A: Don’t panic, but Fold 4 of the MOU is sneaking up on us! Plus, the DCOU has some big stories coming up. And let’s not forget all of the great stories coming in for BTFolds from you guys.

Q: Overall, who does the council consist of now?

A: JC, Jawa, CJ, Noah, myself (Cammy), Peyton, and Jar Jar.

Q: What do you think of the future for the SFC?

A: The future’s looking really bright, and that’s all thanks to you guys. When JC approached me to be the new head mod, I wondered what kind of future the site would have. I was lucky to realize that I wasn’t alone in bringing about new life into the site and had the support of my fellow mods. Working with them has been such an honor and a privilege. Similarly, when Noah and I finished T.H.A.N.O.S. and the Infinity Folds, it felt like the end of an era. But it really kicked off a new one with the SFC. The future’s bright.

Q: Are you working on a story or any origami-related project?

A: Yes! I have an MOU story that I’m working with Peyton on (shh) and I’ve got a story lined up in the future for the DCOU (double shh).

Q: When did you start coming to the EU?

A: It was a long time ago, in a gal—that is to say, about eight years ago. I even submitted a few stories! Fun fact: I’m one of the contributors to The Folds Unleashed, episode VIII of the Rise of the Bounty Hunters, Vol. 1.

Q: When did you decide to help Noah with stories like The Rage of Artron or IF?

A: We started collabing on The Rage of Artron for basically three reasons. One, Noah’s writing is awesome. We were finishing Fold 2 and I had come to really respect Noah’s writing style from the Imperfect Iron Fold and Captain Americut: The Fall. Two, I had managed to finish Thorigami II, a story that was big and, with all due humbleness, took a lot of different skills to finish. I felt ready to start helping out with even bigger stories. Finally, Noah was a great friend and we bounced ideas off of each other all of the time, even before collaborating. It was just a step further.

Q: How did you find out about the Origami Yoda books?

A: I read a review on my distant cousin’s blog about a book called Fake Mustache by Tom Angleberger. I liked it so much that I decided to see what other books he had written.

Q: As a mod, do you sometimes feel stressed when everyone seems to send a lot of stories?

A: Haha, sometimes we do feel stressed. But it just means that people are feeling creative and inspired, and that’s what we want to encourage.

Q: What piece of advice would you give to a new Superfolder?

A: Have fun, be kind to others, and write simple stories! Don’t try to write gigantic stories like Infinity Folds right away. Start by working on simple, compelling stories that grow your characters as people.

Thanks for the questions, Guillermo! Feel free to email us if you want to interview a mod.
