SuperFolder Thrawn Presents: An Interview with SF Noah

I guess here’s another interview! This time, conducted by Thrawn! Read it here:

Q: What did it feel like when you got the idea for the MOU?
A: It felt really right, actually! The idea came because, at the time, I was feeling a lot of nostalgia for the EU but didn’t know how to implement it. Star Wars stories seemed to be old hat by then. The idea to broaden the scope of the sight for the MOU seemed like a great experiment at the time, and now it’s opened the doors for the EU to become Superfolder Central!

Q: Do you think that there will be “The Fold 2?”
A: I’m not sure how much I can say…

Q: What was your first story on the site?
A: My very first story was ‘Month of the Skyfolders,’ and it was really bad. If you want proof, just go and read it for yourself. I really dislike the concept of self-insert characters, i.e. just basing a character off of you, and a big part of that is because of Noah, the character. Grr.

Q: Would you consider the MOU to be your “ Origami Magnum Opus?”
A: I mean, I guess! It helped revive the EU and started an Origami Fanfiction Renaissance, so yeah!

Q: What was your first experience with Origami Yoda?

A: When I was younger, I spent a lot of time in the hospital and wasn’t able to do much. Because of that, I was always looking for new things to read and enjoy. Fortunately, one of my friends mailed me an origami Yoda puppet to cheer me up and photocopied instructions to cheer me up. Later, I found the book those instructions came from and the rest is history!

Q: What character has yet to be introduced into the MOU/ DCOU that surprises you?
A: For the MOU, probably the Fantastic Four. But I know, I know, that’s my fault. They’re coming, don’t worry. I’m not so sure about the DCOU. Peyton seems to have covered pretty much all of the bases!

Q: Is there any storyline from the comics that you want to see come to the MOU/ DCOU?
A: That’s an interesting question. There’s really not many storylines that would work in the school setting, which is why most of the MOU stories don’t exactly adapt storylines. I find it more fun to create our own stories as we go along, using the characters as a basis. That being said, I would be super interested in seeing how a ‘Flashpoint’ would work in the DCOU. I have absolutely no idea how it would, though.

Q: In some of your stories I have noticed that there are some characters that have yet to make their way to the MCU so do you read the comics?
A: I read a comic here and there, but those non-MCU characters are actually inspired a lot by TV shows like Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Super Hero Squad. Those were my first introductions to the Marvel universe!

Q: Are there any ideas about an origami X-Men team?
A: Very soon.

Q: Are the puppets on the covers of your stories yours?
A: I try to make my own, yes.

Q: Is there anything you want to say about Fold 4, any hints of what’s to come?
A: Not much, I’m just very eXcited.

Q: Do you think Tom Angleberger has read anything from the MOU?
A: Not that I know of!

Q: What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?
A: Chocolate-chip cookie dough.

Q: Fold 5? I ask because the MOU loosely follows the cinematic universe and there are plans for a Phase 5.
A: At the moment, there aren’t plans for a Fold 5. Because, I mean, I’ll probably be graduated by then. But we’ll see.

Thanks Thrawn!
